Home Up

Graveyard Point

Another really fun theme ride!

Hosted by Circle 4:  Dusty, Joanie and Laurie
and their trusty steeds Racyne, Zeke, and Jack

Friday

Taking your canoe to the Owyhees...

Saw several of these... seems like thy put the posts in upside down to me.

Strong winds blew in.

Pretty sunset

Saturday

Woke up to rain

And windy and cold

My "camp fire" (the fan was blowing the warmth down to me)

"George Johnson, hanged by mistake 1882.
I guess if you're going to hang somebody by mistake,
you might as well have a sense of humor about it."

"Lester Moore worked as a Wells Fargo Station Agent in 1880 -
at least he did until he delivered a mangled package to Hank Dunstan.
Hank was not happy with the condition of the package and an argument ensued.
Shots were fired. Lester took four shots to the body before firing off one shot
to Hank's chest. While both men died,
only Lester's epitaph would become immortalized in Boot Hill."

Jesse and Sage were the first to brave the cold, wind, and rain
(you can't see the rain blowing sideways in this picture, but it was!)

The rest of us waited until 11:00 or later to go out, and it wasn't bad at all.

Heading for #5... Desolate! No grass or anything in this area.

Christine and Lee took a different road, but we kept running into each other the whole day.

A few sprinkles, but not bad.

It's amazing what you can find in the middle of nowhere!

"George Johnson - Hanged by mistake. Horse thievery is a hanging offense whether
you're guilty or not, as George found out when he innocently purchased a stolen horse."

"Kansas Kid - A kid and apparently from Kansas, was killed in a stampede"

Renegades - Christine and Mr. P4, Lee and Shadow

I didn't see the landmarks for this one, but found the marker just fine!

"Unknown - 1882. The unidentified body of a man found in the bottom
of an abandoned 60 foot mine shaft. He was well-dressed -
indicating he was not a miner. no ID of any kind was found on him."

"John Heath - 2/2/1884 - Hanged. John Heath was taken from county jail and lynched
from a nearby telegraph pole by the Bisbee mob. A local doctor named Dr. Goodfellow
put down as the cause of death "Emphysema" of the lungs (Lack of Oxygen)."

Shade Hunters - Ellen and Ernie, Laurajean and J.J., and Shane and Ella
Headed from #3 to #2

Zipper Lips - Barry and Joe, Jennifer and Legend

Happy Trails - Robin and Scotty

"Two Cowboys - Drowned. If drowning wasn't bad enough, these two cowboys not only drown together,
but were known by name only to each other."

"Here lies John Yeast - Pardon me for not rising. Ok, so maybe this one didn't exist (or hasn't yet)"

"Charles Helm - shot 1882. There are two ways to drive cattle, according to
two hot tempered ranchers, William McCauley and Charles Helm. Fast or Slow"
I guess Charles lost that argument.

"John Ringo - July 13th 1882. Doc Holiday and the Earp Brothers didn't think much of him, for sure."

The view from the top of the hill - if you look close, you can see camp way down below.

By the time we got back, there was just the ride managers, Lee, Christine, and me.

Not spoiled at all!

Then the clouds and rain started blowing in again (Looking west)

Looking east.
